The following are the preliminary plans for the coming year:

The full schedule of operations for the year has not been finalized at the time this is being written and will be updated as trips are scheduled. Most trips are scheduled at least a month ahead and we suggest that you check this section on a regular basis.

TRIPS by ZS6JDE

Hannes, ZS6JDE works as a missionary in several countries in Southern Africa. He is based in Pretoria, South Africa and is currently involved in projects in Malawi, Zambia and to a lesser extent Mozambique. His travel route also takes him through Botswana and Zimbabwe, but normally no stops are made in these countries and the present political situation in Zimbabwe makes operation by anyone passing through the country impossible. His missionary work is funded by church groups in the U.S. and trips are very much dependant on the necessary funds being available. Unfortunately regional conflicts, famines and the recent weather-related catastrophes throughout the world have made funds for the more routine work of church missions in Africa increasingly scarce and Hannes anticipates that far less funds will be available for his work during 2007. Transportation limitations restrict Hannes to the use of a 2-Yagi array on 144 MHz using 2 x M-Squared 2M9SSB Yagis with a TE Systems 400 watt linear.

 ZAMBIA & MALAWI

The first trip this year might be at the end of January  we are still waiting for the final arrangements it might take Hannes to Malawi & Zambia but it is dependent an the correct funding being available.  During June/July/August he will probably be in Zambia for approx 2 weeks and in Mozambique again for 2 weeks we will keep the dates posted.

SWAZILAND

A major expedition to Swaziland will be conducted in 2007 with plans by at least eight overseas operators to operate from 3DA0 for about ten days. We have been in contact with members of the expedition and hope to interest them in adding VHF including WSJT EME to their operating plans. The possibility exists that ZS6WB may spend a few days with the crew in Swaziland and provided everything comes together as planned the scenario would be for the 144 MHz station to include a 4 x 2M9SSB array with QRO and also a 50 MHz EME station with a 6M7JHV antenna and QRO.
