Pretoria 31 Dec 2006 Long distance VHF/UHF DX communication by Radio Amateurs has always been the dream most if not all have had. In May 2006 Hal ZS6WB shared this with some of us and it was in my humble opinion the real start of this worthwhile project. Through his encouragement and contact with other radio amateurs all around the world the project came to lift with the support of a few dedicated operators making equipment & funds available. The project really came to life when Hannes ZS6JDE went to Zambia in May 2006 and to Malawi & Mozambique in July & August 2006. During these trips he opened up the 3 new DXCC entities on EME 2m with the small 2 unit array of 2M9SSB's. It offers approx 15db of gain and also offers the operator the opportunity to have full elevation. We have now launched this website to keep our friends updated on the progress of the project. 73's EME for Africa Team |
